Capabilities & Services

LIQUID CARBURIZING
Process – Adds carbon and nitrogen to the surface of low carbon steel.
Benefit – Low carbon steel can be heat treated with less distortion than conventional carburizing methods.
LIQUID NITRIDING
Process – Adds various case depths of nitride, depending on the time spent in the nitride furnace.
Benefit – Increases the wear life of high speed steel (HSS) parts without changing the core hardness.
STEAM TEMPER
Process – Performed at different temperatures for various types of materials, it tempers the part after heat treating.
Benefit – Reduces oxidation on the surface of a part and adds lubricity to cutting tools.
BLACK OXIDE
Process – Performed in a series of tanks, it is a form of controlled rust that acts as a long-lasting preventive.
Benefit – Protects from rusting and adds an aesthetic “blackened” finish to the part, which enhances the look of the finished product.
SAND BLASTING
Process – Removes discoloration left on parts after heat treating.
Benefit – Gives parts a clean look and prepares them for the machining process.
AUSTEMPER / MARTEMPER
Process – Heat treating performed at different temperatures, depending on the material, to change the metallurgical properties of the part.
Benefit – Increases the strength of the part by changing the metallurgical makeup at the microscopic level. Also reduces cracks, increases toughness, minimizes distortion and yields uniformly hardened parts.
DIAMOND BLUE
Process – A proprietary treatment developed over 50 years ago, and used exclusively on HSS tools.
Benefit – The surface hardness of the tool is three to five points higher on the Rockwell scale and its surface is infused with tiny microscopic pockets of oil to enhance lubricity.
